Phase 1: Tech Ops Leadership Matrix

Since August 2022, Tech Ops has been working on a leadership initiative with the EDV Talent Development Team.

The initiative was inspired by feedback that leadership received via surveys, exit interviews, and 1:1 conversations highlighting the gap in consistency in leadership behaviors and expectations across Tech Ops.

Kevin Kyro and the Senior Leadership team are behind this 100%. They hope that the result of this initiative will:

  1. Create clarity in leadership roles and responsibilities
  2. Lower stress and increase engagement
  3. Build consistency in our culture across the bases

As leaders at the Base, we spent 2 days in April 2023 with the Talent Development team and peers who were part of a Core Team to identify the most important leadership behaviors for Tech Ops. It was enlightening and a new concept that highlighted this initiative is a marathon not a sprint.

We developed a Tech Ops Leadership Matrix, designed to inform and remind us of these guiding leadership behaviors.

In the fall of 2023, a Core Team visited all the bases to roll out this leader initiative. We are excited about this opportunity, and we also know it will take time to understand and adopt.

Phase 2: Implementation of Tech Ops Essential Skills Training

Talent Development and Tech Ops Leaders partnered together to deliver Phase 2 of the Technical Operations Leader Initiative: Essential Skills.

All DSTs, Inspectors, Leads, and Supervisors were required to attend one of 14 Essential Skills events in 2024.
